Swollen or distended abdomen

Can indicate bloat (GDV) — a fatal condition within hours. Do not wait. Go to an emergency clinic immediately.

Bloody diarrhoea or vomiting blood

May indicate parvovirus, severe GI bleed, or poisoning. Requires immediate treatment.

Seizures or convulsions

Go to an emergency vet immediately. Note the duration and video if safe to do so.

Collapse or inability to stand

Could be cardiac, neurological, or severe pain. Emergency care required.

Difficulty breathing or blue gums

Oxygen deprivation. Do not delay — this is life-threatening within minutes.

Not eating for more than 48 hours

Prolonged anorexia can indicate internal illness, pain, or infection. Book a home visit today.

Vomiting more than twice in 24 hours

Occasional vomiting is normal, but repeated vomiting suggests GI distress, obstruction, or infection.

Limping or reluctance to bear weight

Could be a soft tissue injury, joint issue, or fracture. Needs examination to determine severity.

Frequent scratching, hair loss, or skin sores

Likely allergies, mange, or fungal infection. Will worsen without treatment.

Blood in urine

Urinary infection, bladder stones, or trauma. Needs urine analysis.

Lethargy (sleeping more, less playful)

Normal if mild and passes within a day. If lasting 48+ hours alongside any other change, call your vet.

Mild diarrhoea without blood

Often diet-related. Bland diet (boiled rice + chicken) for 24 hours. If persisting beyond 48 hours or worsening, call vet.

Sneezing (occasional)

Usually dust or irritant. If persistent with discharge, or combined with lethargy, escalates to "call vet".

Bad breath

Common in dogs but can indicate dental disease or kidney problems. Mention at next checkup or book a dental assessment.
